Description
The MK17 Heartbreaker is a wearable, life-size replica of the Mark 17 (Mark XVII) helmet from Iron Man 3. Its motorized faceplate drops an open jaw on a voice command, an ear touch sensor or the remote. The LED eyes and the side lights at the ears light up. It comes in four finishes: Classic Gold × Red, Silver × Red, Silver × Black and the matte-black Dark Edition. Like all our helmets, it fits most adult heads from 55 to 62 cm.
The Open-Jaw Faceplate
Where the MK5 splits into panels and the MK50 lifts one solid faceplate, the Heartbreaker’s jaw drops open — the most distinctive motion of the three. High-torque micro motors (2.5 N·cm each) move the faceplate quickly and smoothly, without stalling.

Voice commands
- “JARVIS, start system” / “Shut down system”
- “Open the suit” / “Close the suit”

- Left ear sensor: opens the front faceplate
Remote control

Brighter LED Eyes and Side Lights
The eye lenses and the side lights at the ears light up. On the remote, Button C changes the eye colour, and Buttons D and E switch the eye and side lighting on or off. In the product photos the eyes glow red in some shots and blue in others.
Four Finishes, Including Dark Edition
- Classic Gold × Red
- Silver × Red
- Silver × Black
- Dark Edition: matte black for a stealth display
What Changed from the MK5
The MK17 was rebuilt from two years of MK5 and MK50 owner feedback. It has a reinforced, multi-layer ABS shell with a smoother metallic finish, a quicker faceplate, brighter LEDs, more forgiving electronics that work on standard batteries, and a slightly larger, more screen-accurate profile that fits adult heads better. Compared with the MK5, it’s about 12% lighter (~1,130 g vs ~1,280 g), runs roughly twice as long on a set of batteries (~8 hours vs ~4), and opens faster (1.2 s vs 1.8 s). See the full breakdown in our MK17 Heartbreaker review and MK5 vs MK50 vs MK17 comparison.
Built to Wear: Fit and Comfort
A stabilized internal frame and memory-foam padding keep the weight balanced. It fits head circumferences of 55–62 cm (21.7–24.4 in) — see the helmet size guide. You can see through the eyes and walk around normally, though visibility isn’t perfect. If the batteries run out while it’s closed, backup power lets you open it by hand.
